The Choirs of Miramar High School

Beginning Chorus (Chorus 1) - This ensemble is open to all students. Beginning Chorus focuses on building the fundamentals of proper vocal technique, including breathing, posture, and vocal placement, as well as working on musical literacy. Beginning Chorus performs at the winter and spring concerts, as well as Music Performance Assessment in 3rd Quarter.

Women's Chorale - This ensemble is open to female students in grades 10-12 by audition or recommendation of the Director. Women's Chorale studies music written for female voices ranging from 2 to 4 parts. Additionally, this ensemble works on fundamentals of choral sound, vocal production, and music literacy. Students in this ensemble are encouraged to participate in Solo and Ensemble MPA, in addition to concerts and Choral MPA in the spring. Women's Chorale also rehearses weekly on Tuesdays from 3pm to 4:30pm.

Men's Chorale - This ensemble is open to male students in grades 10-12 by audition or recommendation of the Director. Men's Chorale studies music written for female voices ranging from 2 to 4 parts. Additionally, this ensemble works on fundamentals of choral sound, vocal production, and music literacy. Students in this ensemble are encouraged to participate in Solo and Ensemble MPA, in addition to concerts and Choral MPA in the spring. Men's Chorale also rehearses weekly on Wednesdays from 3pm to 4:30pm.

Concert Choir (Chorus 3-5 Advanced) - Nicknamed "The Army" because of its massive size, this is the largest ensemble of the Choral Program. This ensemble is open to all returning chorus members in grades 10-12. Concert Choir performs a wide variety of music representing various historical time-periods and cultures. Concert Choir studies the fundamentals of choral sound, vocal production, and music literacy. Students in this ensemble are encouraged to participate in Solo and Ensemble MPA, in addition to concerts and Choral MPA in the spring. Concert Choir has performed songs by J.S. Bach, Z. Randall Stroope, Morten Lauridsen, and Moses Hogan.

Varsity Singers - This is the premier ensemble of the Choral Program. This ensemble is open to all students by audition or recommendation of the Director. Varsity Singers performs a wide variety of challenging literature, with a focus on elevating performance to the highest level possible. Students in this ensemble are required to participate in either All-State testing in the fall, or Solo and Ensemble MPA in the spring, preferably both. Additionally, Varsity Singers performs annually at Choral MPA in the spring. Varsity Singers has performed at a variety of events around South Florida, including the City of Miramar Holiday Illuminations, other special events in the City of Miramar, and Broward County, and many school based events.
Varsity Singers rehearses weekly on Mondays and Thursdays from 3pm to 4:30pm, with additional rehearsals scheduled before performances.
